About: James is a founding partner of Oury Clark Solicitors and is strategic head of its Corporate, Commercial and Technology Practices. James is dual-qualified as a Chartered Accountant and partner in Oury Clark Chartered Accountants. Advising companies (quoted and unquoted), shareholders and directors, James additionally draws upon his own extensive overseas business experiences in the North American and SE Asian markets. The commercialisation of technology in the healthcare sector is a key focus with close associations with the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Imperial College. To assist his business clients James has developed a specialism in business ethics and corporate social responsibility. He is sole author of ‘A Guide to Corporate Social Responsibility’, British Standards Institute (2007). James was one of the architects of the firm’s pro-bono strategy which has led to the representation of death row clients worldwide and more recently represents numerous victims affected by the bombings that took place in London in 2005. Litigation further supplements James’ business experiences with representation before the Sierra Leone War Crimes Tribunal, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights/African Commission and UN Human Rights Commission. James is Chair of the International Bar Association’s Human Rights Committee, a member of the UK Government’s Advisory Death Penalty Panel and visiting fellow of the University of Westminster.
